I've got to tell ya, if you can't smell the Galactic Cowboys in the tunes I write, well...you must be stopped up somewhere. I first saw GC on tour w/KX in 1992. When they played "Someone for Everyone" I realized that I'd someday marry the girl of my dreams, and that she was standing right beside me. Always uplifting, GC's music has been to me like cough syrup on a cold winter's morn; relief from the nagging pains of regularity. As the Cowboys grew, I noticed that I, too had done some growing, and I had gotten wiser. At a particular GC show, Wally jumped off the stage and got hung up in a girl's sweater! Just one of the many unpredicatble things that happen at a Cowboy jamboree. At that same show, I told Monty that a friend of mine couldn't make the show because he wasn't 21. Monty then tore off his sweat-soaked shirt, and told me to pass it on to him.
I've noticed a definite change in the Cowboys' music. I think tastes may have changed, but if we took the Pepsi challenge with their albums, we'd be able to distinguish a pattern: these boys know how to have a good time. I've been compared to GC's writing style, but I wish people wouldn't do that. You can't say someone is more passionate about what they love than another. If I take anything from the Cowboys, I want to take their ability to have fun on a stage. Record label or not.
