What a strange tale to tell. I was just out of college, a big GC fan since your first album. SIYF had left a permanent impression on my CD player laser. And who should be coming to my home town on July 4 but GC! I showed up at the club early... very early... about six hours early, in the hopes of meeting you all. I got mistaken for a roadee so helped unload all of Dream Theatre's and your gear from the truck, got to meet your guitar and bass techs (nice fellows) and sat with someone's South American girlfriend through the performance. And what a performance! After sitting through Dream Theatre spend a half hour on the drums alone, you whisked through a twenty minute soundcheck and then started the show. YEEHAW! Needless to say, after lugging around all the gear, I didn't stay through Dream Theatre and actually only got to talk with you for a minute or two but I'm convinced I witnessed one of the best shows that played in Fort Wayne that year.
