To the band:
I'll share with you my life's story. I'll try to be
brief; growing up my parents were real strict on
music. I only listened to oldies because I had little
interest in gospel. Eventually I started listening to
secular bands but a lot of Christian bands too. I was
getting into many different styles but I quickly
discovered my love for hevay music. Cutting to the
chase, when I previewed Never Say Dinosaur in the
Christian bookstore, Not of this World blew me away.
A Christian band!? They're heavy!!! I thought it was
the BEST THING. Really. I joined a music club and
saw Feel the Rage, the first Galactic Cowboys disc I
ever owned. My life was changed. A heavy Christian
band for someone like me, it was amazing. Next I
picked up Machine Fish, then Horse that Bud Bought,
self titled, Space in Your Face, At the End of the
Day, and finally Let it Go.
My point is not that you were a great heavy Christian
band but when I was still discovering music, Galactic
Cowboys was with me. Always one of my favorite bands,
you've been with me from my start, even though you
didn't know it. And I know you don't like to be
called a Christian band and to me it's
inconsequential, but thanks for making great, fun
music. Even if I didn't love an album at first ("It
needs more heavy songs!") they all grew on me and I
learned to appreciate the rock and the pop and the
melody.
You've left a lasting impression on me. Ever since I
really got into music I can't think back to a time
when Galactic Cowboys weren't there.
Thanks,
Ryan Fox
