i don't know how quickly this will get posted, but that doesn't really matter, i guess.
wow - where to begin?
i saw you guys when you opened for king's x at the 40 watt in athens, ga. it would have been the "at the end of the day" tour. i was not familiar with your music, although i had heard the name. i figured that you had to at least be alright to be on the bill with king's x.
well - did my world ever get rocked! while i enjoyed king's x, i walked away from the concert with a copy of "machine fish" in my hand and a firm conviction that y'all had rocked harder and better than king's x, even though i didn't know your songs.
one thing led to another, this album led to the next one, and by the summer of 00 when "let it go" debuted, you guys were easily my favorite band falling under the broad category of "Christian" music.
i was thoroughly upset at the breakup, perhaps most b/c i would never get to see you in concert as an actual fan rather than a newcomer (i think y'all should play a reunion show just for me and all the other GC fans who never got to see you after having some albums under our belts; i would drive 5 states or more to see it).
anyway, i make allusion to the fact that y'all are my favorite "Christian" band; that is b/c it allows me to keep rush as my favorite secular band. forced to choose, i waffle back and forth (partly b/c some of my family memebers [read: rabid rush fanatics, uncle ronnie and older cousin steve] might crucify me if i settled on GC.
however, at the end of the day, your combo of rocking, vocalizing with harmonies, and Christian-based lyrics and worldview would put you on top.
in fact, you are my desert island band. too bad you don't have as lengthy a catalogue as rush. if you did, i would be in heaven. or at least at a ranch on mars.
blessings from athens, ga -
