To Our Friends and Supporters

Our next album, "Let It Go," is the last one in our current contract with Metal Blade Records. At this point, we (Galactic Cowboys) have decided that it is in our best interest to disband and to pursue our individual goals (of which you will hear about soon). We have not closed the door on working together in the future. We remain good friends and will be supportive of each other in the coming months and years.

At such times, our thoughts naturally turn to you, the people who share our love of good music and who have given us that ultimate vote of confidence by buying our records and taking the time to write to express support and appreciation for our efforts.

As we individually pursue our endeavors in music and related interests, we hope our paths will continue to cross with as many of you as possible. It is you, after all, who count the most in the end.

See you among the stars...

Love,

Monty, Ben, and Wally

the time is really flying by and christmas is upon us. after the show in dusseldorf we took a couple days off to get our systems back on texas time and then started back to work. things are progressing nicely and if it's up to us, this album will be out on schedule. that may sound like a small feat, but there are always obsticles to overcome. why, right now our engineer is suffering from a bout with the flu and we haven't been able to record much for the last few days.

as for the actual recording and the specifics, i am purposely trying to be as vague as i possibly can. the way i see it, everyone is spoiled now-a-days and needs to be a little more patient! after the album is "in the can" i'll see if i might be able to squeeze out a little more info. so that y'all don't have a cumulative aneurysm.

by the way, there will be no free cookies with the purchase of a cd. if you heard that there would be a free cookie with every cd purchased, you were misinformed.

that is all.

bass and drums are finished!!! yesterday we got the "heavy" guitar tone. this is just one of the many guitar sounds that wally will require to weave his own intricate sonic subtlety, and in doing so, blow your minds!!!! sorry, i might have gotten a bit carried away...it is my sincere belief that you're all gonna think it's really keen! we're still looking at delivering by our originally scheduled date. so as of right now you can expect to see the new album on the shelves by spring Y2K.

news flash!!! for all you who have been waiting not so patiently, we had our first day of pre-production for the new album last night. as usual ,after the first get together, everything is embryonic, but it is getting us all excited.

we spent two hurried and stressful days moving into a new studio space. lets just say, the old place had lost it's luster. anyways, the new studio is homey and clean and it actually is a STUDIO!

i know that's not much of an update, but it is something...

more news as it happens

the good news-after an extremely close call we got the site back. we can all breathe a sigh of relief....take a moment to do that...ok, now that bad news-we have to cancel our appearance at cornerstone '99. this is NOT metal blade's fault! i appreciate the zeal and support for galactic cowboys, but no calls or emails are necessary. hopefully we'll be able to regroup and set up something for later in the year...if not, then just prepare yourselves for the next gc project. in the meantime the message board is up and open for business!

howdy y'all!

just got back from an excellent and exhausting trip to germany. our good friend and true metal fan, michael trengert (metal blade rep. germany) showed me a wonderful time! thanks to all the metal blade germany staff, andreas, volker, martin, punk rock kid (sorry i don't remember your name), and nina. i was treated with old world hospitality by everyone involved. the 8+ hours a day on the phone were worth their weight in gold. although, there are a number of questions that i'd like to never hear again:

1. what happened to alan?

2. why did you call the album AT THE END OF THE DAY?

3. does the title of the album mean you're quitting?

4. tell me how galactic cowboys started...(after almost ten years??? go figger...)

5. what is different about this album compared to the others?

6. explain every song in detail. (not really a question, but quite exhausting)

7. what is your favorite song on this album?

the thing i have to keep remembering is, these people are scattered across ALL of europe. i heard so many different ways to pronounce THE HORSE THAT BUD BOUGHT. it's amazing! anyway, i think this is sufficient for an update.

MERRY CHRISTMAS and HAPPY NEW YEAR!

see you all on tour in '99,

ben

Leg one of the tour has ended, and from all reports it was most successful (transportation snafus notwithstanding). Some dates for the next lap are starting to materialize... and Ben is headed to Europe on the 13th to start the press-a-thon for the European release.... and if our EC buds could send liz any printed evidence, we'd love to post it here on the site!

It's heading into the final crunch of rehearsals, packing, etc! Ben, Wally, Monty and Erick are basically sequestered in "The Space Formerly Known As Studio and Now Referred To As Intense Rehearsal Zone".... spies report that it is sounding HUGE. (I've also heard reports of "excellent," "outstanding," "energized" and "tacolicious." None of these reports are confirmed, but my sources are pretty credible.)

Some news from the retail front indicates that ATEOTD seems to be SELLING! (So keep telling two friends.... and so on .... and so on....). We're finishing up the radio request page, but more input would sure be welcomed. Drop Liz an e-mail if you have some ideas. Denton is still working on a virtual concert section for this site (what's that, you ask? well if you're familiar with Denton's work, you know that if nothing else it will be UberGroovy.....).

And yes, the wack new t-shirts will ONLY be available at shows during this upcoming tour.... we'll add them to the merchandise order list AFTER they return (as if you needed MORE incentive to hit a gig or three!)

Galactic Cowboys would like to officially inform all of our fans what has transpired in the past week. On September 16, 1998 our drummer Alan Doss, for personal reasons, resigned from Galactic Cowboys. Alan has also decided not to do the tour with us (which starts in two weeks). We are sad to see Alan go, and while we wish his timing was better, we wish him the best. We sincerely thank Alan for 9 1/2 years of dedication to the music and for his invaluable contributions.

We WILL do this tour. Filling in on drums is Erick Tatuaka. Erick was chosen last night (Sept. 22) for this position after auditions. Erick is from Austin, Texas and has most recently been the drummer for guitarist Chris Duarte (Jive/Silvertone Records). Rehearsals have been going great and we are all very excited about hitting the road. See ya soon! More news as it happens...you heard it here first!

Love,
Ben, Monty, Wally

back to the ranch!.
